Bartali 180 – The Hero’s Path – is an annual ride from Florence to Assisi in commemoration of Gino Bartali. Gathering cycling enthusiasts from all over the world, the ride is non-competitive and serves as a fundraiser to support the Gino Bartali Youth Leadership School. The event, which is organised by Ciclismoplus in collaboration with the municipalities of both Florence and Assisi, will take the participants along the mythical path that Bartali used to ride while smuggling fake documents hidden inside his bicycle frame. In this one-of-its-kind event, you will live and experience the incredible journey which Gino rode as part of his role in saving hundreds of Jews from the grasp of the Nazi’s on behalf of the Assisi Underground. 

Bartali 180, “The Hero’s Path”, is not only a commemoration event, but also a celebration of life. And let’s not forget: A cycling challenge. This unique cycling experience will afford the participants the opportunity not only to relish some of the most beautiful parts of the Tuscan and Umbrian countryside but also to visit and learn about the places that were fundamental to Gino Bartali’s heroic past. 

The participants of Bartali 180 will be provided with all the logistic services they need to enjoy the event. Among the participants, you will also find special guests of honor: Gioia Bartali, the granddaughter of the legendary Bartali and an avid cyclist herself, and the young students of the Gino Bartali Youth Leadership School.
