This carefully designed cycling tour in Italy showcases the Italian lake district perfectly, offering epic climbs set in gorgeous landscapes, which will amaze us day by day. With its bright green hills, fertile valleys and sparkling blue waters the Lake district is truly a blessed place in northern Italy. We’ll take you to the most renowned eateries and restaurants in the area where the chefs will delight you with fabulous dishes paired with splendid wines. Our local bi-lingual expert staff will introduce you to some of the best kept secrets in the region. You will have all the time you need to relax, recharge and make new friends.
Our guides will meet you at Milano Malpensa International airport and will transfer you to your Hotel in Arona. This charming little town on Lake Como is famous for its Lungolago (lakeside) which offers fantastic views of the castle on the opposite shore and of the Alps. After a refreshing lunch, we’ll get fitted on our bikes and head off for a warm-up ride to get comfortable for the week ahead. From the centre of Arona, we will pedal along peaceful roads across this scenic part of northern Italy renowned for its unrivalled natural beauty. We’ll stop at one of the best-known local enotecas and with glass in hand, we’ll toast to the week ahead. Back to the hotel we’ll get ready for a five-star dinner at one of the finest restaurants in town.

Following a relaxed Italian breakfast, we’ll hit the road to enjoy another stunning ride with unbelievable views of Lake Maggiore, Lake Orta and the mighty Alps. We’ll cycle along the shore of Lake Maggiore before taking on a gentle slope 6 km long at 6.5% to Calogna, an enchanting little town nestled among green hills. We’ll ride downhill to Omegna, a lovely little village on the northern shore of Lake Orta, a small romantic lake where beauty, art and mysticism blend together. Here we’ll stop for lunch at the best trattoria in Omegna from where we’ll have stunning views of the suggestive Island of St. Jules. Back on our bikes we will pedal along quiet roads passing through the beautiful little village of Oleggio Castello before we return to Arona.

A nourishing breakfast prepares us for a challenging ride, ready to discover some of the most alluring mountain scenery in the world. We’ll ride on the flatland to the charming town of Stresa famous for its waterfront promenade which offers excellent views of the mountains and the breath-taking Borromean Islands. We’ll continue our ride climbing the Mottarone, from where we’ll marvel at the unrivalled views of the seven lakes in this enchanting corner of Italy. After a break, we’ll zoom downhill for 16 km on a stunning provincial road with a final stunning private stretch named Borromea, a road built in the 14th century. Once back to Arona we’ll head to our hotel where we’ll have a soothing post ride-massage before a gourmet dinner.

Today we’ll cycle along some of the most scenic roads in Italy, with incredible views of the lakes’ glittering blue waters and of the majestic Alps. Cycling along the shores of Lake Comabbio and Lake Varese, we’ll meet a long series of gentle ascents and smooth descents immersed in a stunning landscape with luxuriant vegetation. We’ll climb a challenging ascent of 7 km averaging 7%, reaching the Alpe Del Tedesco, where we’ll have a traditional home-made lunch. We’ll zoom downhill and reach the wonderful Lake Lugano, where we’ll stop in Ponte Tresa on the border with Switzerland. We then return to our hotel where we’ll have some time to relax and have a post-ride massage. After an aperitivo we’ll be ready for a delicious dinner.

This morning after a nourishing breakfast, we will wind our way through the splendid Muggio Valley in Switzerland, pedalling past chestnut woods, watermills and wildflower-crammed meadows, reaching the western shores of stylish Lake Como which are lined with beautiful grand neo-classical villas. We’ll ride through Bellagio, a lovely town which is one of the major draws of Lake Como, as is exquisite Varenna, with its narrow winding streets which is really a must-see. We’ll stop for a traditional lunch before we continue riding towards the southern shore. We’ll finish our ride in chic Cernobbio, a world-renowned lakefront town where we’ll have an exceptional dining experience.

A gourmet breakfast prepares us for the week’s most challenging ride. Leaving Como we’ll find a long series of gentle ascent and descents while pedalling on tranquil country roads and green pastures. We’ll face today’s main climb, the world-famous Passo Del Ghisallo which is 10 km long of which 4 km are between 8% and 10%. Once on top we’ll visit the famous Madonna del Ghisallo church before stopping for a visit to the Fausto Coppi cycling museum in Castellania. Then we head off to the most famous local trattoria where the local chefs will wow us with their traditional dishes. In the afternoon we’ll be free to relax and go sightseeing before regrouping for dinner to celebrate the end of this amazing holiday.
