TOUR
During this bike tour restricted to a maximum number of twenty participants, we will cycle together with Damiano Cunego in the heart of the wonderful Italian Alps between Valtellina and the upper Valle Camonica along the roads of the Granfondo Gavia Mortirolo Damiano Cunego, where legendary moments of the Giro d’Italia have been written. We will put our cycling skills to the test by tackling the Gavia and Mortirolo, two of the most epic climbs in Italy, always included in the stages of the Rosa caravan. You will be treated like a true professional cyclist and you can count on our expert staff and the professional support car that will always be by your side during your rides to provide you with all the technical and emotional support to allow you to achieve your personal goal on these memorable climbs. Upon returning to the hotel you will have plenty of time to relax, enjoy a post-ride massage, take a dip in the pool before enjoying the local cuisine of the restaurant that we have carefully selected for this exclusive weekend.
Today our team will meet you in Aprica in the heart of the Orobie Alps at 2:00pm in the hotel that we have carefully selected for you and the whole group. Once you have dropped your luggage and completed your bike tune up to make sure everything is in perfect order, we will be ready for our first ride immersed in the green landscapes between Valtellina and Val Camonica. This afternoon we will pedal at the right pace along quiet and low-traffic roads to fully enjoy the beauties of these mountains that surround us and prepare our legs for tomorrow’s demanding ride along the official routes of the Granfondo Gavia Mortirolo. Once back at the hotel, we will have plenty of time to relax, have a chat with friends over a good glass of wine before enjoying a dinner of typical local dishes in total safety.
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we will be ready to put ourselves to the test with the medium course of the Granfondo Gavia Mortirolo Damiano Cunego, pedalling along the same roads where epic stages of the Giro d’Italia have been written. We will face two of the most iconic climbs in Italy, firstly the Gavia, which on several occasions has been Cima Coppi del Giro, the highest peak touched by the pink caravan, and Mortirolo, one of the hardest climbs in Europe, where it is possible to admire the monument of the great Marco Pantani, which we will face from Mazzo di Valtellina where we will arrive once we leave Bormio behind us.
The testimonial of the event, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 2004 and other numerous classic monuments, “the little prince” Damiano Cunego, will pedal with us, if his health condition allows it. Together, we will cover the 150 km with 3820 metres altitude on the official route that will repay us with breathtaking landscapes, lakes set in unspoiled nature and permanent glaciers. It will not be an official race, but you can have fun challenging yourself and others on the main climbs of the Granfondo thanks to the official time trials executed by Endu. We will ride in total safety in groups of no more than 20 people always assisted by our support car and our team of experts throughout the day. There will be opportunities to refresh ourselves and regenerate by tasting typical products of the area. Once in the hotel, we will have time to rest and enjoy a relaxing massage before dinner.
After our last breakfast together, this morning we will have plenty of time to enjoy another adventure in these wonderful mountains riding our bikes. Starting from our hotel in Aprica, we will enjoy another beautiful morning riding in company and in total relaxation. After yesterday’s intense efforts, in spite of the experience from our masseur, the fatigue will still be clearly felt today. If you do not want to ride, you will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour at the Eco-Wildlife Observatory in an area where you can experience the thrill of observing animals in freedom, at just a few meters away, without protective nets and in complete security. Once we return to the hotel in the late morning, we will have time to take a shower, pack our bags and have lunch with friends before saying “arrivederci” until the next time.
